On a warm July evening, the Denver Botanic Gardens transformed into a haven for Folk, laid-back Country Soul, and comedy fans, with John Craigie at the helm. Craigie, known for his sharp wit and soulful melodies, brought an intimate yet jovial atmosphere to the serene setting. As the sun faded into the west, the audience settled on blankets and lawn chairs broke out their wine and cheese and prepared to be serenaded amidst the lush flora.

Santigold’s concert at the Denver Botanic Gardens on July 6th, 2023 (part of the annual Music at the Gardens series) was extraordinary, especially considering she sprained her ankle when she tripped over one of the kid’s toys just days before the show. Her unwavering spirit and passion for her craft were evident as her dancers helped her down the path, through the gathered crowd, and to the stage. They were following a man holding crutches.

Hiatt, who was one of the pioneers who broke down the barriers between Country, Rock, and Pop, has been producing consistently strong material since his first release way back in 1974 and he proved he can still command attention with just an acoustic guitar, a harmonica, and his voice.

Tuesday was a scorcher, no doubt about that! When I rolled up to the Denver Botanic Gardens, my car was reading the outdoor temperature as 95 degrees and it felt every bit of that as I walked a couple of blocks and took my place in line to see the formidable double bill of Jonny Lang and JJ Grey & Mofro.

This past Monday the Denver Botanic Gardens morphed into a beautiful outdoor Jazz club as it played host to a supergroup featuring David Sanborn, Marcus Miller, and Bob James and Denver’s own Django Reinhardt inspired LAPOMPE. While the day was hot, the evening cooled off just enough to be comfortable and a nice bottle of Rose did the rest.

TajMo – July 24th – Denver Botanic Gardens

After a bit of a deluge put a damper on Monday evening’s TajMo concert, Tuesday looked much more promising until a big thunderstorm came swooping down toward the Botanic Gardens. Fortunately, after the staff made an attempt to clear out the bowl (which only really ended up allowing the more daring souls to grab better seats as VIPs headed for shelter), the storm stayed to the south and the show went on pretty much as planned.
